Allegheny Wildlife Management Area is a 6,853 acre Wildlife Management Area in Mineral County. The property is owned by WVDNR and managed by WV Division of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Section. The terrain of the area: Relatively flat, rocky mountaintop and a steep side slope leading to foothills and associated hollows. Predominately oak-hickory with some laurel thickets. Smaller tract - ridgetop w/steep hillsides and old field habitat along the river and ridge. Hunting, Trapping, and Fishing: A 500-foot safety zone exists around all buildings, picnic areas, campgrounds, and playgrounds in which it is illegal to shoot a firearm. Hunting Opportunities: Deer, Turkey, Bear, Squirrel, Grouse Trapping Opportunities: Bobcat, Coyote, Red Fox Fishing Opportunities: Allegheny Wildlife Management Area offers fishing opportunities: North Branch of the Potomac River. There you can fish for smallmouth bass, panfish, trout (stocked). Amenities: Lodging, Camping and General Facilities: There are no lodging or camping facilities on site.
