Stonewall Jackson Lake Wildlife Management Area is a 18,381 acre Wildlife Management Area in Lewis County. The property is owned by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and managed by WV Division of Natural Resources (Wildlife Resources Section and Parks and Recreation Section). Stonewall Resort State Park is 1,842 acres. Note: It is illegal to hunt in WV State Parks except during controlled deer hunts that are performed at selective State Parks on a revolving basis. Information is available July 1 at the WV DNR website, District offices, and State Parks. Application process is available online. Parks and dates are listed in the Hunting Regulations. The terrain of the area: Farmlands reverting to woodland and rolling hills covered with mixed hardwood forest. Hunting, Trapping, and Fishing: A 500-foot safety zone exists around all buildings, picnic areas, campgrounds, and playgrounds in which it is illegal to shoot a firearm. Hunting Opportunities: Deer, Turkey, Bear, Waterfowl, Squirrel, Rabbit, Grouse, Dove, & Woodcock Trapping Opportunities: Bobcat, Coyote, Red Fox, Beaver, Mink, Muskrat Fishing Opportunities: Stonewall Jackson Lake. There you can fish for largemouth bass, balck bass (catch & release), bluegill, carp, channel catfish, crappie, muskellunge, trout (stocked), walleye. Amenities: Lodging, Camping and General Facilities: There are no lodging or camping facilities on site.
