Little Canaan Wildlife Management Area is a 3,071 acre Wildlife Management Area in Tucker County. The property is owned by WVDNR and managed by WV Division of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Section. The terrain of the area: Rocky, moderately steep slopes ranging in elevation from 3,100 feet along the Blackwater River to 3,720 feet overlooking Canaan Valley. The area is comprised of hardwood forest with rhododendron thickets, scattered wetland and forest openings. Hunting, Trapping, and Fishing: A 500-foot safety zone exists around all buildings, picnic areas, campgrounds, and playgrounds in which it is illegal to shoot a firearm. Hunting Opportunities: Deer, Turkey, Bear, Grouse, Woodcock Trapping Opportunities: Bobcat, Coyote, Beaver, Mink, Opossum Fishing Opportunities: Blackwater River. There you can fish for trout (stocked), roack bass.
