Coopers Rock State Forest is a 13,050 acre State Forest in the counties of Preston and Monongalia. The property is owned by WVDNR and managed by WV Division of Forestry and WV Division of Natural Resources ( Wildlife Resources Section and Parks and Recreation Section). The terrain of the area: Forested, mountainous with gently sloping areas on ridgetops and numerous rock outcroppings. Hunting, Trapping, and Fishing: A 500-foot safety zone exists around all buildings, picnic areas, campgrounds, and playgrounds in which it is illegal to shoot a firearm. Hunting Opportunities: Deer, Turkey, Bear, Squirrel, Grouse Trapping Opportunities: Bobcat, Opossum Fishing Opportunities: Coopers Rock Lake. There you can fish for largemouth bass, bluegill, trout.
