The region is covered with high hills interspersed with cultivations. Of particular interest is the Lefkara village in the west part of the map. Lefkara is where the Cypriot folk needlecraft art is born - the famous “lefkaritiko” - which the reputation of has gone beyond the frontiers of Cyprus and has become known in most of the European countries but not only there. In the eastern part perched on a rocky peak, 750 metres above sea level, lies Stavrovouni monastery. Legend tells that Stavrovouni Monastery was founded in the 4th century by St. Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine the Great, who left a relic of the Holy Cross at the monastery. There some trails around the Stavrovouni hill and the E4 trail runs through the map. The map was created at the scale of 1/25,000 and covers an area of 224 sq. kms. It is very detailed and shows villages and isolated buildings, tracks and footpaths, vegetation and cultivations, caves and churches. Also seasonal streams with their names, water tanks and abandoned water mills, place names, contours every 10 meters and spot heights.
