In the most eastern part of Liguria, surrounded by hills overlooking the rugged coastline of the Ligurian sea, is the Golfo della Spezia, also known as the “Golfo dei Poeti” or Gulf of the Poets. Climbing steeply from the shore, the green rocky hills make for a mild climate both in summer and winter. This hilly landscape, naturally rugged and craggy, at times softened by the many manmade terraces, slopes steeply into the sea to give us, between the heads of Punta Mesco and Punta di Montenero, the charming villages of the Cinque Terre (Five Lands). Among the most enchanting attractions on the Italian coastline, Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore are an impervious and craggy stretch of the eastern Ligurian Riviera that has been a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1997. The trails have been mapped from 2010 to date. The correctness of the data collected is guaranteed by the GPS systems used. The routes marked in red are maintained safe by the La Spezia Branch of CAI, the Italian Hiking Club, in cooperationwith the Cinque Terre National Park, the La Spezia Municipal Council and the Montemarcello-Magra-Vara Regional Natural Park, each for the areas under its competence. The routes marked in grey are not signed and are recommended for expert hikers only. printed maps available: https://www.libreriageografica.com/
