Detailed and accurate map of the Black Canyon National Recreation Trail, an 80-mile non-motorized singletrack trail for hiking, biking, and horseback riding just north of Phoenix, Arizona. The trail winds through a variety of scenic and rugged Arizona landscapes – from the Sonoran desert floor through foothills and canyons to the high desert. The alignment lies between Interstate 17 and the Bradshaw Mountains, and extends from Carefree Highway (State Route 74) on the south to the Prescott National Forest on the north. Elevation ranges from 1600 to almost 4400 feet. The Black Canyon National Recreation Trail follows a route that has been used since prehistoric times as a trading route, livestock driveway, and stagecoach road. It was designated a National Recreation Trail in 2008. The map depicts a total of 105 miles of singletrack trails, and covers 325 square miles within an area that is 7 miles from east-to-west and 48 miles from north-to-south. If printed to scale, this map would be 18 inches wide and 10.5 feet tall! ALL of the proceeds from the sale of this map go to the Black Canyon Trail Coalition (www.bctaz.com) to assist with their efforts to maintain, manage, and promote the Black Canyon National Recreation Trail as a world-class recreational facility.
