Description:
With over 70 miles of single-track trails and old two-track roads Helena, Montana has one of the finest trail systems in the Rockies. Located minutes from historic downtown Helena, the mountains and meadows of the South Hills are ready to be explored on foot or by bike with this detailed topographic map. Prickly Pear Land Trust is proud to be the trail coordinator for the City of Helena and a partner with the Helena National Forest. PPLT's mission is to protect the natural diversity and rural character of the Prickly Pear Valley and adjoining lands through voluntary and cooperative means. The Land Trust is dedicated to perpetuating the recreational, wildlife, scenic, agricultural, and historic values of the land. The trails shown on this map cross lands managed by the City of Helena, the Helena National Forest, and the Bureau of Land Management. In addition, numerous trails also cross private property. Please be respectful of the trails as this will go a long way to ensuring continued access. A special thanks to Prickly Pear Land Trust volunteers, private landowners, Gerry Daumiller for GIS mapping, and to all of you hikers and bikers who help keep our trails in great condition!
