Description:
This map shows recreation sites and hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking trails in the Yacolt Burn State Forest near Camas. Managed by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Yacolt Burn State Forest is a timber-generating working forest that provides opportunities for camping, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, motorcycle, ATV and 4x4 riding. Led by the Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz, DNR manages 1,100 miles of trails and 160-plus recreation sites in working forests and conservation areas statewide. Many recreation areas are located on state trust lands, which the agency manages to generate revenue for statewide public services, including public school construction, universities and emergency services. In addition to providing access for recreation, these lands also help protect against development, support clean air and water and maintain the highest environmental standards available.
