The Boggy Creek Fire started by lightening on May 23, 2021 10 miles north of Hannagan Meadow in the Wallow Fire scar. This fire burned approximately 3,000 acres in heavy downed timber on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in the White Mountains. This burn area occurs in rough terrain and requires travelling several miles on high clearance Forest Service roads. Though much of the area was denuded of trees from the previous Wallow Fire, this area includes a great amount of varied terrain and microclimates that hold promise from potential morel fruitings.
