Boise National Forest Winter Travel Map 2021 Comprising the seventh largest National Forest in the United States, Boise National Forest's 2.6 million acres provide a variety of recreational opportunities throughout the seasons. In winter, the Boise National Forest offers snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ice fishing for great winter outings. Many of the snow trails are regularly groomed. The Boise National Forest has various areas open for non-motorized recreation and motorized winter travel. Restrictions do exist, so please plan ahead and be familiar with the area before you go. Groomed Snowmobile Trails – Groomed snowmobile routes are managed under cost share agreements between the Boise National Forest, the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, and locally by Valley County, Boise County, Elmore County and the City of Stanley. The routes on this map are subject to change due to snow conditions and available funding. Routes depicted on this map that are not on Forest Service owned land may not be groomed or accessible.
