Description:
Difficulty 3 (moderately challenging) Time 1 hr 20 mins | Dist 3.2 km | Climb 145 m No dogs allowed. Creek crossings may be impassable after prolonged or heavy rain. From the beautiful wildflowers of the ridge top woodland, this walk descends into the forest valley of the Lane Cove River with its tall ancient trees. Trace the 'Conscript Pass', a steep track made by relief labour during the harrowing times of the great depression in the 1930s. Can you spot the 'graffiti' carved into the rocks by the workmen, including a cartoon profile of the then Premier of New South Wales. This walk should be suitable for all adults and teens with moderate fitness and bushwalking experience. Older children (7+ years) used to tough walks might also enjoy it, however it's not recommended for young children, or those with poor fitness or mobility challenges, as there is some steep climbing and several creek crossings (which may be impassable after prolonged or heavy rain).
