Wedged between the Moapa Valley and the North Muddy Mountains, Valley of Fire is Nevada's oldest state park, formally opened in 1934 but not legally designated until 1935. The park is located 50 miles east of Las Vegas where one can find 40,000 acres of bright Aztec sandstone, petrified trees and petroglyphs dating back over 2,000 years old. Several examples of petroglyphic rock stories can be found through the park, carved by the ancient Puebloan people. Our 2462S map is the most comprehensive map of the Valley of Fire and Moapa Valley available and includes detailed hiking, horsebacking and mountain biking trail information. This map covers the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Valley of Fire State Park, Gold Butte National Monument, BLM rangeland, Moapa Valley National Refuge, Morman Mountains Wilderness and more. Side A of the map has a scale of 1:200,000 with 100 foot contours, with a detailed Side B of the Valley of Fire State Park at scale 1:45,000 and 40 foot contours.
