CLCT Geodecke-Humphrey Trails

The Goedecke-Humphrey Preserve consists of 18 acres of property owned by the Canton Land Conservation Trust (CLCT). The overall preserve was acquired as two separate transactions. The first was a generous donation by the Goedecke in 2004 of a dog-leg shaped parcel of land on West Road partially bordering Cherry Brook. The Humphrey family initially donated a 150 foot easement on adjacent property to permit the construction of a trail bordering Cherry Brook. In 2014, the family donated the entire 16 acre parcel. A short trail was constructed on the dog leg portion, and then extended into the larger Humphrey donated property. Although the trail only extends just over a mile in length, the views along the Cherry Brook section are picturesque in all seasons. Visitors are encouraged to consider a winter snowshoe walk or early spring hike. The preserve is located at 23 West Road. In Google maps, search for Goedecke-Humphrey Trailhead. The current parking area is small, across the road from the trailhead. CLCT was organized as a nonprofit in 1972, and provides stewardship for a number of properties primarily in Canton, several of which have hiking trails.
