This hike (8.7 miles, 2700' ascent) follows some steep switchbacks up to the highest continuous waterfall in Shenandoah National Park. The view of the Shenandoah Valley and canyon here is quite picturesque. Hikers may take a gently descending trail to social trails to several swimming spots. Shoulder parking for up to 10 cars is available on Thompson Hollow Road (VA-630). The yellow highlight is used to illustrate the recommended route. From parking, continue on VA-630. Turn right onto blue-blazed Thompson Hollow Trail, and continue straight at the junction with the Tuscarora Trail. Turn left at the “T” onto blue-blazed Tuscarora/Overall Run Trail. Continue; optionally follow four social trails on the right to/from Overall Run Falls and cascades. Continue on Overall Run Trail and turn right onto blue-blazed Mathews Arm Trail. Turn right onto yellow-blazed Beecher Ridge Trail. Continue on Overall/Beecher Connector Trail, passing Beecher Ridge Trail on the left. Turn right onto Overall Run Trail. Optionally follow a social trail on the right to/from a swimming hole. Continue on Overall Run Trail. Turn left onto the Tuscarora Trail and bear right onto Thompson Hollow Trail. Continue along VA-630 to parking.
