Just outside the charming city of Newberry, lies this beautiful park full of old growth trees and gently flowing streams. Lynch’s Woods Park, originally created in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), has been a well-kept secret. Now managed by the Newberry County Recreation Department, this 276 acre park has seen some great improvements, including a new restroom and a new picnic shelter. The road has been regraded and many new miles of trail have been developed. Mountain bikers, hikers, and equestrians can all call Lynch’s Woods their home. The Lynch’s Woods Passage of the Palmetto Trail is a 4.9 mile loop trail through the park with a single connection to the Newberry Passage which takes users through the heart of downtown Newberry and along the campus of Newberry College.
