This map depicts the Horse Fire, which burned approximately 9,500 acres just northwest of Crown King in the Prescott National Forest in October 2020. This fire occurred in the Bradshaw Mountains where there is very limited vehicle access within the fire area and very rough terrain. The burned area includes chaparral, pinyon/juniper woodlands, and Ponderosa pine forest in the upper elevations. It may be worthwhile looking for burn morels in higher elevations on the north side of Horse Mountain, should there be adequate precipitation. This map was created and published in collaboration with Modern Forager.
