Palmer Woods - Hiking Trails

What's new:

Added updated map

Description:

At more than 1,000 acres, Palmer Woods is by far the Leelanau Conservancy's largest natural area. The Forest Reserve's contiguous hardwood forest stretches more than 2 miles north to south and shares a border with the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Located only a mile from Glen Lake, Palmer Woods features ridges that rise to a high point of almost 1,100 feet. The preserve is laced by old logging roads and a handful of them were turned into hiking trails. Price Valley Trail, a 2.1-mile, point-to-point trail, was the first posted and now there are 3.8 miles of footpaths. Eventually, the forest reserve will feature 9 miles of hiking and skiing trails and more than 15 miles of mountain biking trails. In the winter, the trails are groomed for skate and classic skiing. This map, produced by MichiganTrailMaps.com, includes: --10-foot contour lines --Location of all the hiking and mountain biking trails --Icons for all trail posts at junctions --Mileage flags marking the 2.1-mile loop Price Valley Trail Along with photos, you can get a mile-by-mile description of the trail from MichiganTrailMaps.com at https://www.michigantrailmaps.com/member-detail/palmer-woods-hiking-trails/
