Situated east of the Imperial Valley agricultural region this route map covers the area north of the US/Mexico Border to Interstate 10 and east to the Colorado River detailing hundreds of miles of OHV routes. This map has seven wilderness areas; Chuckwalla Mountains, Little Chuckwalla Mountains, Palo Verde Mountains, Indian pass, Picacho Peak, Little Picacho, and North Algodones Dunes. Established in 1994, these areas are closed to all mechanized traffic, so access is by foot or on horseback only. Here you will find endless miles of quiet solitude. This map also includes routes in the East Mesa area west of the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area. Please see the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area map for details of the Dunes. This route map also includes the historic mining town of Tumco. There are several Areas of Critical Environmental Concern- these ACEC’s have special rules regarding OHV use. This map works best with the paper map, “BLM Routes of Travel for Eastern Imperial County, California”. Call the BLM El Centro Field Office at 760-337-4400.for more information.
